Less than 1% of Australian wines come from Tasmania and yet we are punching way above our weight with national and international awards for our sparkling and our Reislings and Pinot Noirs are set to challenge the best not only in Australia but across the world.  The Tamar Valley is the largest grape growing region in Tasmania and has more cellar doors with regular opening hours . All Tasmanian vineyards are classified boutique with wines among the best cool climate varietals in the world.

Many of the vineyards are small and family-owned and you will be greeted by the owners who will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about wines and wine-making but were afraid to ask.  Even the corporate/publically owned cellar doors have experienced friendly staff happy to provide you with as much information as you need about their wines.

The West Tamar is made up of tiny villages and towns alongside the Tamar River a salt water tidal estuary starting at the Bass Strait and winding its way up to Launceston.  Although all grape varietals are featured in the West Tamar red grapes are more available in this area.

Travel through luscious farmland inland and East of the Tamar River to the Pipers River region of the TVWR.  This area specialises in sparkling wine.  Tasmania has been described as "the sparkling capital of Australia".

Just on the edge of town, 10 minutes south of Launceston, by the banks of the North Esk River and surrounded by beautiful mountains is the scenic Relbia region of the TVWR.  All of these vineyards are locally owned and feature most of the cool climate grape varietals.
